1 Peter 3:3-4

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewellery or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. - 1 Peter 3:3,4

Busy Bees...

How many of us have ever been too busy to focus on God? How many of us struggle to find even a hour of our day to talk to Him when He should be our closest friend? How many of us have a list of things to get done and say that we will talk to God once we're finished? We know that the list is never complete, and that there is always something to do, something to distract us from turning our eyes to Him. I know that I am completely guilty, especially lately. I had my last week of the school term last week and of course in my eyes I could see no time for God. I can talk to God anytime, but these assignments are due this week!

Now I am on holidays but I still have work to do for my childcare course. When will the business end? And when I have free time to relax, I'll be honest, I don't think of spending time with God. I think of watching a movie, reading a book or sleeping. How can I consider myself a faithful servant when I treat God like this?! I should get excited when I get the opportunity. Excited about the fact that the Creator of the Universe is listening to me! He's that friend that is waitig to hear from me, don't I at least owe Him our attention?

I can stress just how important it is to spend with God. He loves you unconditionally and wants the best for you in life. Finding the time of day can be a challenge, but it's a challenge that I encourage anyone who feels the same to walk with me. Of course not every single person will feel like this. Maybe you're on a spiritual high right now, and that's awesome.

One of the beauties about God is that we don't need to have battery on our phones, or credit, emails, Facebook, Twitter and all the other stuff to communicate with Him. God doesn't cost money and you don't need internet to speak to him. He's there, right beside us 24/7, ready to listen to whatever it is you have to tell Him.

"For God so loved teh world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16

God gave His son, what will you give?

God bless,

  1. Hey Taleisha,

I think being holidays, I have been laying low a lot. Sleeping in, resting, watching movies and reading, and I havent been reading my bible much. I think you do need to make a decision to spend time with God, but all of our every day lives should be with God. I think I have just been finding that better than making sure I pray and read my Bible is that I also dont do them so much that I wear myself out. I have been tending to do a lot of praying and reading of the Word lately, and I think that when I got bedridden with the flu, I realized that I needed a break, because I wasnt learning anything, and I wasnt doing it from the heart.

I think we need to spend time with God for the right reasons. But dont put it off.

    Blessings,
    Meggie

  2. Thanks so much for the article Taleisha! It was very encouraging. Spending time with God is the most important thing we can do. Feeding ourselves with the word of God should be at least as important to us as eating. This life of ours is so short compared to eternity and there is really nothing quite like being alone with your Maker, reading His word and talking to Him. I like to have a quiet time in the mornings. I started it a while ago and sometimes can't wake myself up early enough but I try. It is so peaceful in the morning and I just love to sit by my window reading God's word and feel His goodness overwhelm me.

    In Christ Alone,

    1. You are far more then welcome Moriah. As followers of Christ we have made a commitment to Him, but it is so easy to get out of habit. I do all the time. Like Meggie I love to watch movies and sleep in. I love my sleep so much, but when I prioritise my sleep over time I should be spending with God, I know that I need to check my heart. Same as other distractions and temptations like fighting with my little brothers or reading the latest novel from my favourite author. These things easily test how Christ-like we are and how easily our focus can be shifted. Sure God wants us to enjoy life, I'm sure it makes Him happy when we do. But we just need to make sure that God remains as our Number One and isn't replaced by other things. I am aso guilty of it, every day.
I guess it's time for me to get my act together as well. One of the things I love about Unfading Elegance is that we are able to lift each other up as sisters in Christ. Thank you.

I will be praying for you Moriah. May God bless you.
